Beeswax

Beeswax is a natural substance generated and secreted by honey bees that use it to develop their honeycombs. It is comprised largely of fatty acids, hydrocarbons, and esters. Beeswax, often available as beeswax pellets, is hard and breakable when cold but soft and pliable when heated or exposed to human body temperature., which is why it’s perfect to use in lip balms.

Beeswax is a natural skin protectant that soothes and hydrates, which makes it ideal for dry and chapped skin, and even used for soothing nappy rash. It can also be used on sensitive skin and acne-prone skin as its regenerative quality and anti-inflammatory properties work in conjunction to help decrease skin irritation, redness, and inflammation. Beeswax also helps to improve skin texture and diminish signs of ageing with its exfoliating and reparative properties combined with its vitamin content.

Beeswax can be found in skincare formulations such as lip products, lotions, creams, exfoliators and hair products, often paired with essential oil blends to enhance its hydrating properties. It carries antiviral, anti-inflammatory, and antibacterial properties essential in fighting chapped skin and bacterial infections.

As a natural humectant, beeswax attracts water molecules in the air, helping to keep skin hydrated over time, and it carries a subtle honey fragrance that makes it a favourite in lip care. When applied to the skin, beeswax forms a protective barrier that helps protect it from environmental assaults, while also holding in moisture and reducing dryness. As a good source of vitamin A, beeswax helps exfoliation and can rejuvenate your look.
